My Hero

A few years ago, an Engineer from Lockheed Martin blew the whistle on the Coast Guard and Lockheed Martin for taking shortcuts in the Deepwater Coast Guard fleet modernization program. I believe that he was the first whistle blower to do so using You Tube. You can watch his original Video here.

After blowing the whistle, he lost his job (of course) and suffered many attacks on his credibility. He has recently been vindicated by legislation that passed in the house. The press release states "H.R. 6999, the Integrated Deepwater Program Reform Act of 2008, would prohibit the Coast Guard from using a private sector entity as the lead system integrator (LSI) for Deepwater 180 days after enactment." In other words, it is making the government accountable and preventing the Chicken from being in the Hen House.

This guy had real guts to stand up for what he knew was wrong. Ultimately, I hope that it will lead to better solutions for our guys in uniform.
